Between the two of us, we’ve quit successful careers to build businesses, turned side hustles into full-time work, made major business pivots, gone back to school in our 30s, navigated divorce, raised kids through all of it... and made approximately 847 spreadsheets trying to figure out what came next.

For about 30 minutes over dinner, you’ll get to listen in as we talk about what it actually looks like to make a big change when there isn’t a perfect roadmap: the fear, the identity shifts, the practical planning, the messy middle, and how to keep moving when you don’t have it all figured out yet.

Kristine is a CPA turned entrepreneur and founder of The Money Monday Club and The Right Room Collective (@kristinemiguel.co).

Alyssa is a financial therapist with a Master’s in Psychology and the creator behind Mixed Up Money (@mixedupmoney).

Both bring a compassionate, trauma-informed lens to conversations about money, work and change, with training through the Trauma of Money Institute.

Expect practical perspective, honest stories, plenty of laughs, and encouragement to take the next aligned step... even if it’s a messy one.

Because sometimes you don’t need another perfect plan. You need to hear from someone who’s been through a big change and found their way through it.

Alyssa Davies is the founder of Mixed Up Money, a shame-free, humor-forward personal finance platform built for Canadians navigating money without the judgment. She's the co-host of the Money Feels podcast, where she brings the same honest, human approach to conversations about our relationship with money. Alyssa holds a Master's in Counselling Psychology and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), bringing that training into her work as a financial therapist. She created the Feels-First Money Method, a cohort-based program exploring the emotional and psychological roots of financial behavior, and runs a private practice called Money Feels Therapy, taking clients virtually across Canada.

She's the author of two books, The 100 Day Financial Goal Journal and Financial First Aid, and writes for ATB Financial's Well Said platform. Based in Calgary, Alyssa is on a mission to make money conversations feel less like shame and more like self-discovery.

That’s the room we’re creating.

The best conversations rarely happen under fluorescent lights with a name tag stuck to your shirt.

They happen when you’re somewhere beautiful. The food is incredible. Your glass is full. The lighting is just right. Someone tells a story that makes the whole table laugh out loud and, somewhere along the way, you realize you’ve completely lost track of time.

The mood is right. So your guard comes down.

That’s the feeling we’re creating at Open Room.

Then we’ll add a little Right Room magic of our own: thoughtful curation and light facilitation that helps people drop the networking persona, skip the small talk, and actually get to know each other.

No awkward icebreakers. No collecting business cards. No working the room.

Just a table full of interesting people, laughing loudly, talking about things that actually matter, and maybe leaving dinner knowing a few people you genuinely want to see again.

The goal isn’t to meet everyone in the room.

It’s to really connect with a few people you want to know better.

The people you text the next morning to say, “I’m so glad we met.” Who you grab coffee with a few weeks later. Who make the introduction, send an opportunity your way, become collaborators, sounding boards, cheerleaders, friends, or something you couldn’t have predicted when you first sat down beside them.

Because a powerful network isn’t built by adding more names to your contact list.

It’s built one real relationship at a time.

Open Room is simply where a few of those relationships might begin.

I started creating the rooms I wanted to be in.

I'm Kristine Miguel, a Canadian CPA, entrepreneur, community builder, and someone who spent a lot of years doing exactly what I was supposed to do.

I built the career, collected the credentials, climbed the ladder, and eventually built businesses of my own. On paper, it looked like success. And honestly, a lot of it was.

But somewhere along the way, I realized I was craving something that I wasn't finding in the rooms I was in.

Not because I wanted to burn it all down. I just wanted to get past the polished updates and have the conversations that happen when the professional masks finally come off.

When “How’s work?” turns into “Do you actually like what you’re doing?”

When someone admits they’re questioning the career they worked so hard for, wondering what they’d do if money weren’t the deciding factor, or quietly trying to figure out who they are when they’re not busy being impressive.

That's why I created The Right Room Collective.

I'm building the community I wish I'd had earlier. The kind where you meet someone whose life makes you rethink what's possible for yours. Where an idea you've been quietly sitting on gets met with curiosity instead of skepticism. Where you can say the thing you've been afraid to say out loud and hear, “Me too.”

And we're just getting started.

Is this a networking event?
This is very intentionally not your typical networking event. There are no business cards to collect, no need to “work the room,” and no pressure to figure out what someone can do for you within five minutes of meeting them.

Open Room is about slowing down enough to actually get to know the people sitting across the table from you.
What time does the event end?
The official event wraps around 9 PM, but there’s no rush to leave. We have the room until 10pm, so stick around for another drink and keep the connection going.
Who comes to The Right Room Collective events?
RRC was created with CPAs and corporate professionals in mind, but our rooms also attract thoughtful, growth-oriented humans from a variety of backgrounds.

Creatives, founders, business owners, and entrepreneurs navigating some kind of personal or professional evolution have attended in the past too!

You don’t need a specific job title to belong here.

If the idea of meaningful connection, fresh perspectives, and building a life that actually fits resonates with you, you’re probably in the right place.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely.

In fact, we encourage it. You won’t be expected to walk into a room of strangers and fend for yourself. The experience is intentionally designed to make conversation and connection feel natural from the beginning.
What if I’m introverted or hate networking events?
Then Open Room might be exactly your kind of room.

You don’t need to be outgoing, charismatic, or good at working a crowd.

You’ll spend the evening around one table with thoughtful prompts, light facilitation, good food, and plenty of time for conversations to unfold naturally.

Your only job is to show up curious.
